Happy Birthday Neil

It’s October and that means one thing, our geriatric leader celebrated another birthday last week!

He’s as old as time itself, trying his best to convince us that he’s 21, and trying even harder to act 18, but he’s not fooling us! Happy birthday from all of us Neilo, we wish you many more happy years mate!

A new week here at Sheesa Beach reminds us how quickly the year is moving, but we’re grateful for the calibre of year we’ve had thus far.

A quick reminder that we still have a limited amount of spaces available on this weekend's PINK Dive with Brest Friends. 100% of the proceeds raised on the day will be donated in support of breast cancer research in the UAE. If you have a free day on Friday give Cecil a shout on diving@sheesabeach.com, we’d love to have you along!

We’ve also had a look into the way our sharing trips are run for the winter months and we’ve made some changes. Those of you with adventure on the mind might be interested in the new programme.

The winter brings with it colder water and a shift in diving conditions. During these months we’ll be accessing the best conditions by heading into the extreme far north, the Strait of Hormuz!

For the upcoming months our sharing trips will run as follows:

We’ll be launching the fast boats on a Thursday evening, making the trip up to one of the beautiful beaches in the Northern Musandam where we’ll camp for the night. Friday mornings will involve an early start to a cooked breakfast and the trip into the Strait; a welcome to the wild side!

We’ll treat you to three of the best dives the Northern Musandam has to offer before getting you back to port by 3pm!

There will be varying degrees of current to contend with on these dives and for your safety we do need to insist on a few prerequisites. You’ll need to be an advanced open water diver with drift dive experience, be proficient with the use of an SMB and have access to a dive computer to join us on this trip. If you meet the requirements, don’t miss out on this one! We’re running the first trip on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2018. Contact Cecil to find out more!

On that note, we’re still taking bookings for our first Sheesa Social on the 16th November. Join us for a day on the fast boats, followed by an Arabic BBQ and social in our camp afterwards. The family is welcome, as well as non-divers, so bring your mates and we’ll see you there!

Our diving centre is cranking along at a decent pace, please take note of the following:

The promotion on our nitrox specialty course will be coming to an end on the 1st of November. If you aren’t Nitrox certified we can’t recommend it enough. Diving on Nitrox will help control nitrogen exposure over multi-day diving, you’ll experience reduced post-dive recovery time and it’s a safer way to dive. Email Cecil to take advantage of the last few weeks of the Nitrox promotion.

It’s also worth noting that we’re running our next open water course on the 6th, 7th and 8th of December 2018. Bring a buddy and qualify for our buddy special!

The duration of the Open Water Buddy Special is three full days; running Thursday morning to Saturday evening. It includes five pool sessions, four open water dives, full equipment rental and two nights hotel accommodation all at a crazy good price!

Convince your non-diving mates to do the course and watch them blossom into the magical world of diving with Sheesa Beach Dhow.

Finally, we do need to put on record that while we facilitate your crossing into the Musandam, you are officially in Oman while you are here and Omani laws do stand. You’re therefore required to hold valid Omani insurance for any vehicle which you bring into the Musandam. We strongly advise that you follow all local laws and purchase Omani insurance before crossing over, to avoid any difficulties while here.

That’s all from us! Have a fantastic week and hopefully we’ll see you soon!
